Our school vision is:

Let your light shine!

· live as a light to others

· live to do good

· live to love God

It is based on Matthew 5:14-16:

You are the light of the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. They put the light on a lampstand. Then the light shines for all the people in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do. Live so that they will praise your Father in heaven."

Ethos and Mission Statement

At Samlesbury Church of England Primary School, our ethos is rooted in the words of Jesus: “Let your light shine” (Matthew 5:16). We believe every child is uniquely gifted and called to shine - through kindness, courage, creativity, and faith.

We are a nurturing, inclusive community where children flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. Our Christian vision shapes everything we do:

  • We live as a light to others by showing compassion, respect, and friendship in all our relationships.

  • We live to do good by making wise choices, standing up for what is right, and serving our community.

  • We live to love God by exploring faith, celebrating Christian traditions, and growing in spiritual understanding.

Our Christian Values are woven throughout school life. They guide our learning, inspire our worship, and help us to build a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to be their best.

Together, we aim to develop confident, thoughtful, and resilient learners who shine brightly in the world and are empowered to make a difference, both now and in the future.

School Values

Our school has 18 Christian values, which incorporate the British values, which are deeply embedded in all which we do in school. These values are explored on a half-termly basis over a three-year cycle through collective worship, prayer time and as part of our daily life in school. The values underpin all areas of school life, including the school’s behaviour policy, for instance, our rewards system is linked to the values, with children’s achievements also celebrated through these values.

We strive to teach each of these values in a variety of ways to make it relevant to the lives of the children and as memorable as possible. This would be through worship, Bible stories, exploring the lives of people who have lived out the value, prayer time, class work etc. Children are also set a piece of homework linked to the value of that half-term so that they can take time to explore the value with their family and local community.

How are Christian Values and British Values shown through our our school's Christian Vision and our theological foundation?
