At Samlesbury, prayer is at the heart of our daily life together. Throughout each day, we pause at key moments to give thanks, reflect, or ask for God’s guidance. Children are warmly invited to join in with the words, whether spoken together as a class or shared quietly in personal reflection. In this way, prayer becomes a natural and central part of school life, helping to nurture a sense of peace, belonging, and spiritual growth for every child.

Key Prayers at Samlesbury

School prayer

Dear God,

Inspire us to live as a light to others by using our Christian Values.

Guide us to do good so that we can make a difference.

Help us to feel your love and grace as we grow.

Amen

Lunch time prayer

For what we are about to receive, may the Lord may us truly thankful.

Amen.

End of day prayers

Each class will finish the day with a period of prayer, which is done differently throughout the school. The infants may well say a prayer such as the one below, whilst children in KS2 may pray about people or things, as requested by others in the class.

Now the busy day is done,

Jesus bless us, everyone.

Keep us safely through the night,

Until we see the morning light.

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer Space

We also have a dedicated prayer space in the school hall, which is linked to our Christian Values, as well as different times of the year. This prayer space has activities for the children to respond to, in order to support and develop their spiritual journey.
