Last week we were busy practising our times tables and this week we've been learning and developing our written strategies of multiplication. Lots of us have got much faster at our times tables but Mrs Quayle has set us the challenge of knowing them all by Christmas.

In English we've started exploring explanation texts with Miss Atkinson so that we can write our own explanation about how the digestive system works, linked to our Science work.

With Mrs Quayle we have started reading a new book - 'How to train your dragon' which we've been using to base our written work on. We're looking forward to finding out about Hiccup's new dragon next week.

We visited church on Friday to look at the amazing stained glass windows, before choosing our favourite one to sketch. Next week we're going to be designing our own stained glass windows linked to our value this half-term which is thankfulness.

We also made our own poppies to be added to the whole school Remembrance Sunday display for the Memorial Hall this weekend. We added these alongside the letters we wrote last week thanking a child living during WW1 for the sacrifices they made: none of us can imagine having to dig up our playground to grow vegetables or having to start work in a cotton mill at 6am each morning, before attending school. We really do need to say a very big thank you to all those who made, and continue to make, sacrifices to enable us to have the lives we have today.
