What a way to kick start our team tournaments for 2021/2022 with a wet and windy rugby event! Having had a few years away from external tournaments, we were set ready to go. The children had been working hard over the last few weeks, practising their rugby skills and building up team spirit. We arrived at Lostock Hall school in challenging weather conditions, but this did not wipe the smile off the team’s faces. After a brief introduction the tournament kicked off. The team showed a little apprehension in their first match and they needed some time to find their feet. This match ended as a 3-0 loss, although one Samlesbury try was disallowed. After the team had got into the swing of things, they took on their second match with much more confidence. Some super runs from the children secured us a 2 - 1 win. Now the team were feeling more steady, they took on an tough team who dominated the match, but Samlesbury continued to dig deep and worked hard on their defensive skills. This ended with a 4-0 defeat, leading us into our final match. Not to be disheartened, the team went out fighting and with a well-balanced game the match ended as a 0-0 draw. This secured Samlesbury Team with 3rd place overall - what a superb way to start the sporting calendar! Well done Team Samlesbury!
